Zula Mitchell, 96, of Hallettsville, passed away September 18, 2009. She was born on March 7, 1913 in Smithville, Texas. She married Johnnie Cecil Mitchell on September 13, 1930 in Edna, Texas. She was a member of Sublime Baptist Church.

Zula is survived by: 2 sons, William Allen "Bill" Mitchell of Gonzales, and Lester Mitchell & wife Katherine of Hallettsville; 4 grandchildren, Tracy Swoboda & husband Kurt, Jeremy Judd & wife Tanya, Farrah Jernigan & husband Kelly, and Kaleb Mitchell & wife Allison; and 9 great grandchildren, Alexis, Dalton, Anily, Laira, Aston, Abby, Tracer, Breylon, and Avery.

Zula was preceded in death by: her husband Johnnie on January 4, 1997; 2 sons, Vernon A. Mitchell and Johnnie Clyde Mitchell; and parents.

Funeral Service: 2 pm, Monday, Sept. 21, 2009 at Kubena Funeral Home. Visitation: 12 noon, Monday, at Kubena Funeral. Officiate: Rev. George Hayhurst. Pallbearers: Kelly Jernigan, Kurt Swoboda, Jeremy Judd, Kaleb Mitchell, Milton Mika, and Alexis Loudeu. Memorials: Sublime Baptist Church. Burial: Geiger Cemetery in Sublime.
