Obituary

Wilma Sasse Klitsch, 93, of Hallettsville, passed away Feb. 21, 2011. She was born on Sept. 9, 1917 to Otto F. & Ida Duerr Sasse in Yorktown, Texas. She began her spiritual journey when as a small child growing up in Yorktown, a neighbor took her to church, St Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was confirmed in 1933.

Wilma married Edgar E. Klitsch on Sept. 3, 1950 in San Antonio, Texas. Upon moving to Hallettsville after her marriage, she joined St Peter Lutheran Church in 1950. The family moved to Houston in 1957, where she was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, and started her children in the Christian faith. Wilma returned to Hallettsville after her husband's death and resumed with St Peter Lutheran, and was one of the founders of the Lutheran World relief quilting which she enjoyed for many years. She was also a member of Herman Sons Lodge #19 for 68 years.

Wilma loved to be outside working in her yard and sitting on her porch. She enjoyed her neighbors and friends dropping by for a visit. Wilma was devoted to honoring her family and friends that had passed on by visiting their grave sites in all the surrounding cemeteries, to bring flowers. She will be greatly missed as a wonderful mother and friend.

Wilma is survived by: her daughter Susan Owrey of Hallettsville; son Larry Klitsch & wife Julie of Hutto, Texas; special friend Bob Novak; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Wilma was preceded in death by her husband Edgar, and her parents.
