Obituary

William T. "Bill" Parks, 89, of Hallettsville, passed away Dec. 20, 2009. He was born on Sept. 28, 1920 to William P. & Lillie Criswell Parks in Lavaca County, Texas. He married Iva Brown Parks on Nov. 2, 1939 in Hallettsville. He was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., Murchison Masonic Lodge #80 of Hallettsville for 50 years, and Vienna Baptist Church.

Bill served in the US Army during WWII, and received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Victory Medal, Army Occupation (Japan) Medal, and 1 Overseas Service Bar. He was employed by the Texas Department of Transportation as a Special Jobs Crew Supervisor.

Bill enjoyed his time outdoors, working cattle, deer hunting and river fishing for catfish. He was a religious person that served as deacon of the Vienna Baptist Church, and previously as deacon of the Sublime Baptist Church.

Special thanks go to the doctors and nurses of the Hallettsville Rehabilitation Center, and Victoria Warm Springs Special Hospital.

Bill is survived by; his son Billy Parks & wife Charlotte of Victoria, 3 sister-in-laws, 1 brother-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by; his wife Iva, parents, sister Celester Beatrice Parks, and brother James "Ben" Parks.

Funeral Service: 10 am, Monday, Dec. 28, 2009 at Kubena Funeral Home. Visitation: 2 pm, Sunday, at Kubena Funeral Home; with the family receiving visitors from 5 pm to 7 pm. Officiate: Rev. Joe Wes Rubac. Pallbearers: members of the Murchison Masonic Lodge #80. Burial: Willow Creek Cemetery. Memorials (in lieu of flowers): Donor's Choice.
