Mr. William Clayton Berry, 72, of Hallettsville, died Feb. 16, 2008. He was born on March 10, 1935 to Thurman & Zella Cobb Berry in Kilgore, TX. He married Betty Schley on Aug. 4, 1984 in Houston. William worked as an oil well firefighter for Boots & Coots and Wild Well Control. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hallettsville.

William is survived by: wife Betty; sons Wendell D. Berry & wife Janet of Hobbs, NM, and Bryan S. Berry & wife Cheryl of Warda; daughters, Debra A. Eilers & husband Bill of Rockport, Janice D. Creel & husband Bill of Barnsville, GA, Linda A. Fowler & husband Greg, and Virginia Becker & husband Glenn; grandchildren, Kara L. Hughes & husband Brain, Landa L Cinadr & husband Marc, Garrett L. Strong, Aaron C. Berry, Marla E. Berry, Mindi S. Berrry, George T. Berry, Christopher L. Calvert & wife Laura, and John J. Becker; great-grandchildren, Alana Cinadr, Casey Hughes, Tarah Hughes, and Brianne Hughes.

William was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial Service: 11 am, Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008 at First Baptist Church. Officiate: Rev. Terry Horton. Burial: Restland Cemetery in Gatesville, Texas. Memorials (in lieu of flowers): Hospice of South Texas.
