Obituary

Willard E. Hagendorf, 87, of Sheridan, passed away Sept. 14, 2011. He was born on Dec. 5, 1923 to Robert & Matilda Stock Hagendorf in Shiner. He married Irene Ullmann on Nov. 27, 1947 in Shiner. He was a member of the American Legion of Hallettsville, VFW of Shiner, Knights of Columbus, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.

Willard enlisted in the Armed Forces on Nov 24, 1943. After basic training in Abilene, TX, his foreign service as Staff Sergeant was with the 679th Quartermaster Truck Company in North Africa and the Middle East Theater, receiving citations of EAME Campaign Ribbon, American Theater Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct Metal, Victory Ribbon and an Overseas Service Bar. He received his Honorable Discharge on March 3, 1946.

Willard is survived by: his wife Irene of 63 years; 6 sons, Matthew Hagendorf of Columbus, Henry Hagendorf & partner Beth Young of Houston, Barry Hagendorf & wife Mona of San Antonio, Gordon Hagendorf & partner Marc Cutler of Houston, Leland Hagendorf of Seattle, WA, and Troy Hagendorf & partner Javier Bernal of Houston; daughter, Denise Lewis of Columbus; brother, Leroy Hagendorf; 12 grandchildren, Tara Saunders & husband Charles; Beth, Russell, Garett & wife Rachel, Hutcheson, Haley, Nicholas, Clayton, Jason & wife Kelsey, and Justin & wife Brittney Hagendorf; Lynde Adamcik & husband Austin and Kristin Lewis; and 4 great grandchildren, Dean, Mason, and Brooks Hagendorf, and Mark Saunders.

Willard was preceded in death by: his parents; son, Francis "Mark" Hagendorf; daughter-in-law, Monica Hagendorf (wife of Matthew); son-in-law, Don Lewis (husband of Denise Lewis); and brother, Robert Hagendorf.

Funeral Mass Service: 10 am, Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 4:30 pm, Friday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosary: 7 pm, Friday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Rev. John Peters. Pallbearers: Matthew, Henry, Barry, Gordon, Troy and Garett Hagendorf. Reception: The American Legion Hall (former KC Hall) on 90A East of Shiner. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial: Shiner Catholic Cemetery.
