Wilhelmina Hermina Prasek, 86, of Houston, passed away Sept. 21, 2018. She was born on July 5, 1932, in Hallettsville, TX. Daughter of Joe & Hermina Trcalek Belicek, she was the second youngest of seven children.
Wilhelmina was a member baptized and confirmed in the Czech Moravian Brethren Church of Vsetin. She graduated in the 10th grade from Breslau Rural High School.
On October 22, 1951, she married Frankie Joe "FJ" Prasek at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Hallettsville and settled down to life of farming. They shared a blissful married life before Frankie succumbed to the ravages of cancer in 2007.
In 1953 Frankie answered the call to serve his country. Wilhelmina would join him at Fort Sill, Lawton, Oklahoma where later in 1955, their son Charles would be born in the Army Hospital. Upon completion of military service in Arkansas, they started a new chapter in life in Houston, TX.
Wilhelmina shared an immeasurable passion for quilting, baking, canning, preserving, plant collecting, and vegetable gardening. Homemade pies, cakes, kolaches, noodles made from scratch, strudels, and such were treasures.
Wilhelmina was active in many plant organizations: Gulfcoast Horticultural Society, the Amaryllis Societies of Houston, The Houston Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc., The International Bulb Society, and Life member of South Central Region of the National Garden Clubs of America. She was a dedicated grower, dynamic breeder, and award-winning exhibitor of hybrid Amaryllis/Hippeastrum.
Wilhelmina was extremely devoted to and cherished her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, godchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wilhelmina is survived by: son Charles E. Prasek; daughters Deborah Jackson, Sharon Divin and husband Patrick, & Donna Prasek; brother Julius Belicek; sister Lillie Balusek; grandchildren Jerry Jr., Christine, Ashley & Frankie; great-grandchildren Bryce, Porter, Hunter, Kay Lynn, Lane & Olivia; godchildren Evon, Naomi, Donnie, Brian, Pamela & Clayton.
Wilhelmina was preceded in death by: her parents, loving husband Frankie, son-in-law Jerry Jackson, brothers Joe, Willie, and twin brothers Walter and Jerome.
Funeral Service : 10 am, Wednesday Sept. 26, 2018, at Czech Moravian Brethren Church of Vsetin. Visitation: 5 pm, Tuesday at Kubena Funeral Home; with Prayer Service starting at 7 pm. Pallbearers: Donnie Belicek, Brain Belicek, Clayton Belicek, Naomi Bradicich, Pamela Rodriguez and Evon Janak. Officiant: Brother Mark Labaj . Memorials: Houston Hospice, Czech Moravian Brethren Church or Donor's choice. Burial: Vsetin Cemetery.
