Obituary

Walt Uehlinger, 73, of Hallettsville, passed away Feb. 3, 2020. He was born on Feb. 1, 1947 to William J. & Virginia Drumgold Uehlinger in Marlin, TX. He married Bunnye Janak on Nov. 2, 1974 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. He was a member of the American Legion and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.

Walt served in the US Army from Jan. 19, 1967 to Jan. 18, 1973. He served as a Morse Code Interceptor; and received the Good Conduct medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Sharpshooter (Rifle) Medal.

Walt retired in 2007, and moved from the hustle & bustle of Houston to his favorite place of all – the farm in Hallettsville.

Walt is survived by: wife of 45 years, Bunnye Janak Uehlinger; son Kyle Uehlinger & wife Natasha of Richmond; brother Homer Uehlinger & wife June of Dallas; 2 sisters, Patsy Holt of San Angelo and Edwina Holt of Burleson; and numerous nieces & nephews.

Walt was preceded in death by: parents; 2 brothers, Robert Uehlinger & wife Nan, and John Uehlinger & wife Kathy; niece Sherrie Uehlinger; and nephew Dean Uehlinger.

Funeral Mass Service: 10 am, Friday, February 7, 2020, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 5 pm, Thursday at Kubena Funeral Home, with the Rosary starting at 7 pm. Pallbearers: Jerred Griffith, Monty Janak, Marty Janak, David Hance, Michael Lewallen, and Robert Uehlinger. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church or donor's choice. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Hallettsville.
