Obituary

Viola Vivian Valigura Darilek, 89, of Hallettsville, passed away July 31, 2009. She was born on June 5, 1920 to Martin F. & Mary Ann Drozd Valigura in Hallettsville. She was a member of S.P.J.S.T. and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.

Viola married Anton Darilek at Camp Bowie, Brownwood, on December 19, 1941 while Anton was stationed there with the 36th Texas Field Artillery Battalion. She also was employed at Weingartens for 19 years and later an employee of Wal-Mart since 1987.

Viola and her husband, Anton loved to go fishing, gardening and barbecuing for family get togethers. She enjoyed playing "42" dominoes with her special niece Jeanette & husband Carlwyn Loewe. She also enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren very much. She enjoyed baking apple strudels, kolaches and rosettes.

Two years ago, she was admitted to Stevens Nursing & Rehab Center and enjoyed playing bingo and visiting with the residents. In February 2009, she was chosen Valentine Queen and later in June 2009, she was crowed SCCAP Area Queen in Shiner. She cherished her crown and trophy she proudly called Stevens Nursing & Rehab Center her home, and grew to love the staff and many friends she made there.

Viola is survived by: son Kenneth Darilek & wife Kathryn of Victoria; 2 daughters, Diana Cole & husband Norman of Kentucky, and Sharon Beard of Hallettsville; 7 grandchildren, Cynthia Williams, Mike Hessler, Shayne Dixon, Christopher Beard, Kenny Darilek, Kimberly Barrier, Laura Darilek; and 6 great grandchildren, Caitlyn Williams, Kelsi Darilek, Mason Hessler, Chase Hessler, Kolbi Darilek, and Haley Brown.

Viola was preceded in death by: her husband Anton of 61 years; son Anton George Darilek; parents; brother George Valigura; and 3 sisters, Julie Supak, Angelina Trlica, and Lillie Wagner.

Funeral Service: 10 am, Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at Kubena Funeral Home. Visitation: 2 pm, Monday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosary: 7 pm, Monday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Pallbearers: Patrick Wagner, Christopher Beard, Kenny Darilek, Larry Wagner Daryl Trlica, and Wilbert Supak Honorary Pallbearers: Jeanette & Carlwyn Loewe. Officiate: Rev. Michael Rother. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
