Viola M. Hajek, 84, of Hallettsville, died April 5. She was born on February 19, 1930 in Shiner, Texas to the late Alex and Gertrude Huber Kruse. She married Emil Hajek, Jr. in January 1952 and they began their life together in Hallettsville. She was quite the entrepreneur, started her own business, Hajek Discount Liquor Store, after raising her two daughters. Affectionately known as Trudy, she was well loved by her many customers as she built the business over 28 years. She was a member of KJZT and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.

Viola is survived by: her 2 daughters, Cynthia & Don McIntosh of Moulton, and Sandra & Alan Campbell of Hallettsville; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Bozeman & husband Bobby of Frisco, Texas, Shaun Gerrard of Pflugerville, Ross Hrncir of Hallettsville, and Russel Hrncir & wife Autumn of Rockport; 3 great-grandchildren, Maxwell Bozeman, and Caroline & Aspen Hrncir; and her brother Rodger Kruse of Bellville.

In addition to her parents, Viola was preceded in death by her husband, Emil Hajek; 4 brothers, Raymond Kruse, Ernest Kruse, Bob Kruse, infant brother, Franklin Kruse; and her sister, Bernice Tasler.

The family is thankful and appreciative of the excellent care provided by Shady Oak Nursing and Rehabilitation in Moulton, Texas and Hospice of South Texas.

Funeral Mass Service: 10 am, Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Visitation: 4 pm, Monday, at Kubena Funeral Home . Rosary: 6 pm, Monday, at Kubena Funeral Home . Pallbearers : Ross Hrncir, Russel Hrncir, Shaun Gerrard; Bobby Bozeman, Richard Thompson and Michael Tasler. Honorary Pallbearers : Paul Tasler, E. J. Tasler, Robert Tasler, Wayne Kruse, Carl Kruse, and Dale Kruse. Memorials (In lieu of flowers): the family requests that contributions be made in Mrs. Hajek's name to Hospice of South Texas or the charity of their choice. Burial: Shiner Catholic Cemetery.
