Obituary

Victor Charles Vasek, 80, of Hallettsville, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on September 25, 2024.  He was born in Hallettsville to Emanuel and Hermina Vasek on March 24, 1944.  On August 27, 1966, he married the love of his life, Lucille Helmcamp Vasek.  Victor and Lucille resided in Hallettsville, TX, where they lived a simple life raising their three children.

Victor attended schools in Vsetin and Hallettsville and then became a proud member of the National Guard, was stationed in California, and honorably discharged after his duties.  He worked for the City of Hallettsville Electrical Department and later retired from San Bernard Electric Coop as a lineman.

Victor was a dedicated worker and worked hard to provide for his family.  After long days of work, he would then come home and get in his cherished garden.  His garden was always free of weeds and perfectly chopped and planted.  He took great pride in the vegetable plants and fruit trees as they provided for the family.  In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.  Nothing made him happier than to go along with his son, Dwayne and all of his buddies to run lines and get in the woods to hunt.  He also enjoyed sharing his knowledge of outdoor activities with his grandchildren.  His grandchildren and great grandchildren were truly the apple of his eye.  When he wasn't working outside in the yard or the garden, you could find him watching westerns in his easy chair.

Victor is survived by:  wife of 58 years, Lucille Helmcamp Vasek; son Dwayne Vasek & wife Leigh Ann of Shiner; two daughters, Denise Durham & husband Kevin of Victoria and Dana Johnson & husband Joel of Shiner; grandchildren, Kayla Niemeier & husband, Ward of Weesatche, Clayton DeBord & wife, Laura of Mansfield, Amelia Pohler, Jenna Pohler, Tinsley Vasek, Talyn Vasek and Wyatt Johnson all of Shiner and Case Johnson of Hallettsville; great grandchildren, William Niemeier, Henry Niemeier, Miles Niemeier, Easton DeBord, Landon DeBord and Carter Rae Johnson; 2 sisters, Vicky Svetlik & husband Victor of Rockdale and Vivian Erickson & husband Bob of Cost.
