Victor C. Roeber passed away Sunday evening, June 14, 2015, in Hallettsville, Texas. Victor was born to Victor E. & Julia Roeber on November 23, 1937. He was an only child. He was baptized at St. Peter Lutheran Church. He was a member of the church all of his life, where he contributed much of his time, talent and resources.
Victor attended Hallettsville Independent School District, where he graduated. He was one the first students in Hallettsville to receive the Lone Star Farmers Award. He attended and graduated from Baldwin's Business College in Yoakum, Texas. Victor and his father had a feed lot, where he worked feeding cattle for many years. He also worked at St. Peter Lutheran Church for over forty years and was faithful in making sure the bulletins were made for each week, the church was open for all services and events, the lights and air conditioning and heating were proper order. He was the head usher and arranged for other ushers for many years.
After oil was found on Victor's estate, he devoted much of his time and resources to charity work. He made contributions to St. Peter Lutheran Church, Sacred Heart School, Hallettsville Independent School District, and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was selected by the Hallettsville Chamber of Commerce as Citizen of the Year 2012.
He seldom missed a sport event for the Hallettsville Brahmas or the Sacred Heart Indians. He had a great knowledge of sports, statistics, and events. He was a loyal sports fan and will be missed at the sporting events. His normal place was to stand near the fence by the concession stand at every home football game.
He is survived by many friends. He was loved by his many cousins and family members. He will be missed.
Funeral Service: 2 pm, Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hallettsville. Visitation: 4 pm, Tuesday, at Kubena Funeral Home with Prayer Service starting at6 pm. Officiants: Pastor Andrew Taylor, Msgr. John Peters, and Rev. Herb Beyer. Pallbearers: Tommy Brandenberg, Wesley McAda, Kenneth Etzler, Jimmy Belicek, Pat Henke, Guthrie Blahuta, Shannon DeForrest, and Calvin Bonzer. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic School, St. Peter Lutheran Church, or Donor's Choice. Burial: Hallettsville City Cemetery.
