Obituary

Victor John Pavliska, 94, of Koerth, passed away peacefully with his family beside him on Thursday August 18, 2016. He was born on September 29, 1921 to John Sr. and Martha Frazer Pavliska in Lavaca County, TX. He served in the US Army during WWII and was honorably discharged on Feb. 8, 1946. He married Julia Barton on October 25, 1950, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Koerth. To this union six children were born.

Victor entered service of the US Army on July 13, 1942 at Fort Sam Houston, TX. He served as a gunner with Company D, 43 rd Tank Battalion in Central Europe. He was awarded the American Theater Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Medal with 1 bronze service star for the Central Europe Campaign, the Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal.

Victor enjoyed farming and ranching. He loved his cows, his sheep, the pigs and chickens and all of the animals that he raised. He loved a huge garden. The food at his house was fresh and delicious and no one ever went hungry while they were at his house. He was kind and loving to all and he loved for anyone who would stop and visit. He also loved his nurses at Stevens Nursing Home in Hallettsville including his Hospice nurses and all of his special friends that he made along the way. He learned to have a great faith in God and took comfort in his faith every day. One of his greatest pleasures were his huge birthday parties that he had every year. It was one of his favorite things to talk about for the rest of the year. His smile and his sense of humor will be sorely missed.

Victor is survived by one sister, Helen Bender and his six children: Monica (Marvin) Holik from Hallettsville; Michael (Mary) Pavliska from Sweet Home; Anita (Francis) Brosch from Koerth; Mildred (Ricky) Driskell from Yoakum; Gary (Patsy) Pavliska from Victoria; and Francis (Kay) Pavliska from Cuero.
