Vernell Marie Bozka, 78, of Hallettsville, passed away October 9, 2017.

Vernell Marie Haas was born July 10, 1939 in Hallettsville, Texas. She was the second child of Frank and Agnes Haas. She was a homemaker, bookkeeper and member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She married Carl Anthony Bozka on October 19, 1958 in Hallettsville.

Vernell was active in quilting, gardening, baking, traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of KJZT and the Shiner Quilt Club. She served as a Girl Scout leader, Peoples State Bank Director, and held positions on the Sacred Heart Church Parish Council and Sacred Heart School Board.

Vernell was happy visiting with family and friends, enjoying a cold beer and listening to polka and country music.

Vernell is survived by daughter Carol Draehn (husband Donald) of Brenham, daughter Ann Ludolph (husband Brian) of Katy, daughter Becky Bujnoch (husband Stanley, Jr.) of Hallettsville, and son Mike Bozka (wife Carol) of Hallettsville. Grandchildren Zachary Bujnoch (wife Kelly), Clayton Chaney, Lauren Chaney, Emily Bujnoch, Shelby Bozka, Abby Bujnoch, Catherine Ludolph and Reagan Bozka. Great-grandchildren Remy and Violet Bujnoch. Sister Cathy Lindsey (husband Ronnie).

Vernell was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Ervin Haas (and wife Mary Beth).

Funeral Mass Service: 10 am, Friday, October 13, 2017, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 5 pm, Thursday at Kubena Funeral Home with Rosary starting at 7 pm. Pallbearers: Zachary Bujnoch, Clayton Chaney, Reagan Bozka, Stephen Haas, Brett Lindsey and Billy Bozka. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Memorials: Sacred Heart Quilting Circle or Charity of Your Choice. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
