Vera Willis Tesch, 98, of Sheridan, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 28th, 2025. She was born on November 1, 1926, in Bunkie, Louisiana.  She was the last of ten children born to Charles Herbert and Callie Octivia Willis.  She graduated from Bunkie High School where she participated in various sports and cheerleading. She also enjoyed riding horses.

On a trip to Sheridan to visit her sister, Ora Kincheloe, Vera met Marvin Tesch, and they later married on August 1st, 1945.  They built a country home on their land where they started a family.  They raised 3 children, their son Charles and two daughters, Marlene and Robin.

Vera was a homemaker as the children grew up and she helped with the PTA and school functions.  She had always wanted an outside job so when Robin was a Senior, she went to work at Rice High School where she worked for 12 years until Marvin passed away on January 2nd, 1989.  She then left the job at school and devoted her time tending to the cattle and all of the other responsibilities of ranch life…. she kept the cattle until she was 83.  She loved her country life that she and Marvin had created but most of all she loved her family.

Vera is survived by:  her son Charles Tesch & his wife Sandy; her daughters, Marlene Middleton & husband Claude and Robin Parrott & husband Elden; grandchildren, Scott Tesch, Clay Middleton & wife Keri, Daniel Montgomery & wife Dawnelle and Sheri Darley; and great-grandchildren, Steven Tesch, Brooke Middleton, Sydney Hanzelka, Justin Cruz, Daela Montgomery and Drake Montgomery.

Vera was preceded in death by; husband Marvin Tesch, daughter-in-law Peggy Cousins Tesch, son-in-law Mike Peterson, parents, three brothers and six sisters.

Funeral Service: 10 am, Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Kubena Funeral Home of Hallettsville. Visitation starting at 4 pm Friday at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiant: Rev. Ike Peterson. Memorials (in lieu of flowers): Sheridan Community Center or Donor's Choice. Burial: Cheetham Cemetery, Sheridan TX.
