Mrs. Valeria Hermes, 94, of Hallettsville, died Jan. 1, 2007. She was born Feb. 18, 1912 to George W. & Nellie Dietz Evans in Ezzell, TX. She married Matthew A. Hermes on June 24, 1929 in Koerth, TX. She was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Koerth.

Valeria is survived by: 2 sons, George H. Hermes & wife Pearl Jean of Edna, and James E. Hermes & wife Betty of Victoria; daughter Nellie Janak of Yoakum; brother Earl Evans; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

Valeria was preceded in death by: husband Matthew on September 9, 1985; parents George W. & Nellie Dietz Evans; brother Lawrence Evans; and 2 sisters Georgia Humphrey and Lois Jalufka.

Service: 10 am, Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Koerth. Visitation: 4 pm, Tuesday at Kubena Funeral Home. Wake Service: 7 pm, Tuesday at Kubena Funeral Home. Burial: Koerth Catholic Cemetery. Officiate: Rev. Charles Sonnier. Pallbearers: Chase Hermes, Trey Kuenstler, Glenn Hermes, Daniel Riebschlaeger, Dennis Jalufka, and Kevan Riebschlaeger.
