Tommie Lynn Thornton Holden, 80 years old, of Hallettsville, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2026, peacefully in her home with family by her side. She was born January 3, 1946, to Daniel Arthur Thornton & Merle Jean Jenkins Thornton in Wharton, Texas.
Tommie attended Eagle Lake High School and graduated from Sul Ross University. At 24, she began teaching and taught until her death, a total of 56 years. She enjoyed science, literature, horses, teaching and of course her dog, Parker. She possessed a gift for touching the hearts and souls of anyone she met. She was a storyteller and a writer. But most of all, she loved her daughters and grandchildren beyond measure.
Tommie Lynn is survived; by her daughter Jodi L’rae Adamek & son-in-law Gabriel Adamek, their eight children, Jayden Carson & his wife Jacy and son Caleb Andrew, Lukas Adamek, AJ Adamek, Micah Carson, Samantha Adamek, Reese Carson, Nickolas Adamek and Tatum Carson, plus Baeleigh Carson and her son Kade and Tanner Carson and his wife Jenna and their three children, Talon, Kylie and Casey. Also, her brother Bob & his wife Mary Jane and their children and families, Nikki Warncke, Mindi Lomasang and Jim.
Tommie was preceded in death by; her husbands, Jamie Schmidt, Jody Heard and Ricky Joe Holden, her parents Dan & Jean Thornton and by her daughter Leslie Lynn Heard.
Funeral Service: 10 am, Monday, June 8, 2026, at St. James Episcopal Church of Hallettsville (1103 East 4th Street, Hallettsville, TX 77964) with Visitation starting at 9 am. Officiant: Pastor Bonnie. Memorials: Lucy’s Project in Sheridan, Texas. Burial (graveside service): Around 12:30 pm, Monday, June 8, 2026, at Lakeside Cemetery in Eagle Lake, Texas. Following the funeral services, the family would like to invite friends and family for a celebration of Tommie’s life held at Eagle Lake Community Center, 100 N. Walnut, Eagle Lake, Texas.
