Timothy “Tim” Spanihel, age 63, of Hallettsville, Texas, passed away on March 20, 2026. While his passing was quiet, his life was anything but, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and devotion to his family.
Tim was born on September 8, 1962, in Houston, Texas, to Marcus and Joyce Spanihel, Sr., and was the youngest of five siblings. He later moved with his family to Vienna, Texas, where he was raised on the family homestead and attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and Hallettsville ISD. Following in his father’s footsteps, he began a career in the oil field, working offshore and building a strong work ethic that defined his life. On September 2, 1982, Tim married the love of his life, Cynthia Wick Spanihel. Together, they shared over four decades of marriage filled with devotion, laughter, and unwavering support for one another. After starting his family, he settled in Hallettsville, Texas, where he and his wife raised their daughters, Hillary and Emily and built a life centered on family and community.
Tim was a dedicated member of his community. He worked at Gulf Bend and proudly served with the Hallettsville Volunteer Fire Department, always willing to lend a helping hand when others were in need. Later, he joined Dairy Farmers of America, where he held several roles throughout his career. Above all, he was a family man. He was a proud and devoted father to his daughters, Hillary Spanihel Neskora and Emily Spanihel and he never missed an opportunity to support them. Whether it was softball games or basketball tournaments, he was always in the stands, cheering the loudest.
Tim’s greatest joy in life came from being “Popo” to his grandchildren, Mason, Jordann and Peyton Neskora. He cherished every moment spent with them, especially the simple, joyful times that became lifelong memories, including letting Jordann and Peyton style his hair, with laughter filling the room.
Tim had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting deer, spending time at the family homestead, and taking trips to the Texas coast. These moments reflected his love for tradition, nature, and time spent with those he loved most.
Tim is survived by: his daughters, Hillary Spanihel Neskora (partner, Randal Barger) and Emily Spanihel; his grandchildren, Mason Neskora, Jordann Neskora and Peyton Neskora; and his sisters, Theresa Henneke, Susan Lockard and Deborah Hays (husband, Jim). In addition, he leaves behind extended family members and a wide circle of friends who will deeply miss his warmth and humor.
Tim was preceded in death by: his loving wife Cynthia Ann Spanihel (Cindy); his parents Marcus and Joyce Spanihel Sr.; his brother Marcus “Mark” Spanihel, Jr.; his brothers-in-law, Matthew Henneke, Daniel Wick and Arthur Wick; and his nephew Shawn Drozd.
Tim will be remembered for his strength, his dedication to family, his willingness to serve others, and the quiet, steady love he gave so freely. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the family he adored.
