Obituary

Terrence "Terry" G. Wick, 53, of Hallettsville, passed away Feb. 5, 2015. He was born on July 29, 1961. Terry was the seventh of eight children born to Louis F. and Emma Jurena Wick.

Terry graduated from Hallettsville High School in 1979. He attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. He graduated with his Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture in 1983, and took his first job as an Agricultural Science Teacher at Jourdanton ISD. Terry married Charla Elece Bedford on June 29, 1985. Their daughter, Christy Raye Wick was born on September 24, 1987. Charla passed away on January 8, 1988. Terry continued working at Jourdanton ISD and he and Christy were loved and supported by many wonderful people in the Jourdanton-Pleasanton-Poteet communities.

Terry and Sarah were married on December 28, 1991 in Jourdanton, Texas. James Elliott Wick was born on December 19, 1993 and Emma Katherine Wick was born on October 10, 1996. An agricultural science teaching position became available in Hallettsville in 1998, and Terry has filled that position for the last 17 years.

Terry loved teaching agriculture, loved his colleagues, and he loved the FFA. During his career, Terry served on numerous livestock show boards and committees, and was very active in the VATAT (Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association of Texas) serving as a board member in both Area X and Area III. Throughout his teaching career, Terry received honors and awards from various organizations and associations including his Honorary American FFA Degree.

Terry was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he served as both a lector and usher, and taught Religious Education for 15 years. Terry was a Third Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus, a member of the KJT, and an ACTS team member for numerous years.

Terry is survived by his mother Emma Jurena Wick; wife Sarah Norris Wick; children Christy Wick Tobola, her husband Wesley Tobola, James Elliott Wick, and Emma Katherine Wick; siblings: Geradette Haas (Dennis), Marriette Matthews (Lonnie), Katherine Martin (Dan), Lawrence Wick (Linda); brother-in-law Johnny Knezek; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. Terry is also survived by his mothers-in-law Patricia Bedford and Margie Norris; sister-in-law Tricia Chancey (Bill); brothers-in-law Stephen Norris and Todd Norris (Marcia); and nieces.

Terry is preceded in death by his grandparents; father Louis F. Wick; first wife Charla Bedford Wick; sisters Denise Marie Wick, Shirleen Wick Vela, Darlene Wick Knezek; brother-in-law Lamar Vela; fathers-in-law Charles A. Bedford and Elliott Wynn Norris.

Funeral Mass Service: 10 am, Monday, Feb. 9, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 4 pm, Sunday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church; with a Rosary at 5 pm. Officiants: Msgr. John Peters and Rev. Charles Sonnier. Pallbearers: Ric Hunter, Jerome Tymrak, Gina Gwusdz Hale, Teddy Bynd, Ken Davis, Paul Wilson, John Lanier, and Jim Harris. Memorials (in lieu of flowers): Terry Wick Scholarship Fund, or Donor's Choice. Burial: Koerth Catholic Cemetery.
