Obituary

Sylvester John Grahmann, 90, of Hallettsville, passed away Feb. 25, 2015. He was born on Jan. 1, 1925 to Joseph A. & Pauline Leopold Grahmann in Hallettsville. He married Mildred M. Zappe on Oct. 25, 1948. He was a member of the American Legion Post 230, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.

Sylvester was a veteran of WWII. He received the Europen-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 2 bronze stars for the Ardennes-Alsace and Rhineland Campaigns, the Purple Heart, Distinguished Unit Badge, Army of Occupation Medal (Germany), the Victory Ribbon, and 2 Overseas Service Bars.

Sylvester is survived by: his wife Mildred; 2 sons, Glenn Grahmann of Hallettsville, and Allen Grahmann & wife Jamie of Hallettsville; daughter Janice Logan & husband Pat of Houston; sister Eleanor Huser of Hallettsville; 5 grandchildren, Jennifer Tromble & husband Evan, Jessica Hopper & husband Chase, Sarah Logan, Haylee Grahmann, and Dylan Grahmann; and 2 great grandchildren, Andrew & Lucas Tromble.

Sylvester was preceded in death by: his parents; 2 brothers, Robert J. & Fred Grahmann; and 3 sisters, Josephine W. Rainosek, Pauline H. Huser, and Hilda Sobotik Elstner.

Funeral Mass Service: 2 pm, Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 5 pm, Friday, at Kubena Funeral Home; with a Rosary at 7 pm. Pallbearers: Dylan Grahmann, Leroy Klesel, Gilbert Mican, Ronnie Huser, Fred Huser, and Chase Hopper. Officiant: Rev. Barnabus Kyeah. Memorials: Sacred Heart Church or School. Entombment: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
