Susan Ann Hlavac Janak, 56, of Hallettsville, passed away Nov. 8, 2013. She was born on Nov. 8, 1957 to Raymond & Lucille Brown Hlavac in Lavaca County, Texas. She married Steve Janak on June 13, 1987 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Susan and Steve made their home in Hallettsville, in the St. Mary's area, where they enjoyed life in the country, raising cattle and taking care of their dogs. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Susan spent several years working as a nurse's aid at Stevens Nursing Home in Hallettsville, and in her later years, worked at Brookshire Brothers Grocery in Hallettsville. She enjoyed working and talking with people, and always willing to lend a helping hand where needed.

Susan had a heart of Gold, and adored all of her nieces and nephews, and loved to shop for toys to spoil them for their birthdays, and especially Christmas. Susan would always remember family and friends birthdays and special occasions, and loved to just stop by or call them to let them know she thought about them.

Susan is survived by: her husband Steve; mother Lucille Bujnoch of Hallettsville; 2 brothers, Larry Hlavac & wife Barbara of Shiner, and Danny Bujnoch & wife Angela of Hallettsville; 3 sisters, Doris Mixon & husband John and Donna Bujnoch, both of Hallettsville, and Debi Rodriguez of Austin; brother-in-law Paul Janak Sr. & wife Rosemary of Hallettsville; sister-in-law Janie Roznovsky of Hallettsville; 11 nephews; 7 nieces; 8 great nephews; and 4 great nieces.

Susan was preceded in death by: her father Raymond Hlavac; step father Jerome Bujnoch; brother-in-law James Roznovsky; and grandparents, C.W. & Ludmila Brown and John & Veronica Hlavac.

Funeral Mass Service: 10 am, Monday, Nov. 11, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 4 pm, Sunday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosaries: 6 pm, Sunday, at Kubena Funeral Home; and 9:30 am, Monday, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Officiate: Msgr. John Peters. Pallbearers: Brain Janak, Larry Janak, Bradley Hlavac, Jason Grahmann, Vance Brown, and Alton Brown Jr. Honorary Pallbearers: Danny Bujnoch, Larry Hlavac, Donna Bujnoch, Doris Bujnoch, Debie Rodriguez, Charlene Guidry, Rodney Janak, Paul Janak Jr., Mark Janak, Mary Janak, Tommy Janak, Jeffery Janak, Gloria Janak, and Roger Janak.
