Obituary

Susan Hlavac, 76, of Hallettsville, passed from this earth on August 21, 2021.  She was born on July 9, 1945, to Archie Jr. & Audell Hinnant at Hendricks Field Hospital in Sebring, Florida.  When Archie was discharged from the military, they moved to Texas.

Susan graduated from Hallettsville High School in 1964.  She was a proud Brahma and loved to show her grandchildren her picture in the hallway on the High School.  She then attended Victoria Junior College.  Her hobbies included riding horses, sewing and gardening.

On March 30, 1966, Susan married Harvey Hlavac in Hallettsville.  She became a housewife and spent her days raising her son.  She loved to spend time with him playing cards, teaching him to cook, and crafting.  She loved to attend sporting events.  She was always at any event her son was part of.  She supported her grandchildren in all of their school activities, and was a big Brahma fan.  She did charity work all of her life.  She was Den Mother for Cub Scouts and Room Mother for Arthur's classes.  Later in life she was member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Texas Extension Education Association, helped with Church functions, served as President for several years of the Pink Ladies of LMC, member of St. Peter Lutheran Church of Hallettsville and Vice-president of her Senior Class.

Susan is survived by:  her husband Harvey of Hallettsville; son Arthur Hlavac & wife Kimberly of Hallettsville; 3 grandchildren, Phillip Hlavac of Fort Worth, Abigail Hlavac of Victoria and Rebekah Hlavac of Hallettsville; great grandson Jaxson Hlavac of Victoria; brother Gene Hinnant & wife Suzanne of Smithville; sister Audrey Bareiss & husband Ray of California; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial Funeral Service: 11 am, Saturday, September 11, 2021, at American Legion Hall Post 230 of Hallettsville with visitation at 10:00 a.m. Officiant: Pastor Herb Beyer.
