Susan Emily (Moore) Walker, 87, of Hallettsville, passed away May 13, 2026. She was born on July 4, 1938, in McComb, Mississippi, the beloved daughter of Dennis and Avil (Robinson) Moore. On June 21, 1958, she married the love of her life, Billy Walker, in Houston, beginning a beautiful marriage filled with faith, family, hard work, and unwavering devotion to one another.
In 1968, Susan and Billy became owners of a printing company in Spring Branch, where she worked faithfully side by side with her husband until retirement. Together they built not only a successful business, but a life centered around love, hospitality, and lasting friendships.
Some of Susan and Billy’s happiest days were spent surrounded by family and friends at their bay house at El Campo Beach Club, where laughter, meals, and memories were always shared generously. Later, they traded the water for the peaceful dirt roads, towering trees, and grazing cows of their beloved 5W Ranch in Hallettsville. The ranch became a special gathering place for those they loved most and reflected the simple joys that meant so much to them.
Susan will be remembered most for her unwavering faith, generous spirit, and deep love for family and friends. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome, whether around her table, in her home, or simply in her presence. Her kindness, warmth, and caring heart touched countless lives.
Susan devoted herself to her community through her work with the Katy Go Texan Committee, Crime Stoppers, Lavaca County Wildlife Management Association, Shiner Nursing Home, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo as a Lifetime Member, the Red Hats, and the Lutheran Church of Hallettsville. She found great joy in serving others and building lifelong friendships wherever she went.
Susan also found happiness in life’s quieter moments — getting lost in a great book, working puzzles, crafting with care, and spending peaceful hours on her porch surrounded by beautiful flowers and hummingbirds. Those simple pleasures reflected the warmth, creativity, and gentle spirit that made her so special to everyone who knew her.
Above all else, Susan’s greatest treasure was her family. She deeply loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild, cherishing every gathering, celebration, and quiet moment together. Her love, strength, guidance, and joyful spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Susan was preceded in death by; her parents Dennis & Avil Moore, her sister Glenda Leggett, her niece Tamara Leggett, and her beloved husband Billy Walker.
Susan is survived by: her children, Kathy Hahn (Gary), Donnie Walker (Kathi) and Ronnie Walker (Gina); her brothers, Donnie Moore and Roy Moore (Brenda); fifteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
Memorial Funeral Service honoring the life of Susan Walker will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Zion Lutheran Church, located at 547 County Road 146, Hallettsville, Texas. Following the service, the family warmly invites friends and loved ones to gather for a light lunch and fellowship at the beloved 5W Ranch, a place that brought Susan and Bill so much joy throughout the years.
