Obituary

Stazie Jurena, 88, of Hallettsville, passed away September 24, 2009. She was born on August 3, 1921 to Anton J. & Agnes Steffek Chalupa in Lavaca County, Texas. She married Rudolph Gus Jurena on December 30, 1941 in Koerth, Texas. She was a member of KJZT and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.

Stazie is survived by: son Maurice Jurena & wife Terri of Caldwell; 2 daughters, Eunice Evers & husband Gerald of Kilgore, and Bernice Schmidt & husband Glynn of Needville; 6 grandchildren, Christol & husband Chris Bordovsky, Russell Evers, Delayna Judy & husband Michael, Lindi Jurena, Lani Norman & husband Chris, and Jill Jurena; and 3 great grandchildren, Eric Bordovsky, Allison Bordovsky, and Jack Judy.

Stazie was preceded in death by: her husband Rudolph on December 14, 2000; parents; and 2 sisters, Barbara Chalupa and Mary Kutach Janak.

Funeral Mass: 2 pm, Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation: 5 pm, Saturday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosary: 7 pm, Saturday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Rev. John Peters. Pallbearers: Henry Kallus, Jr., William Hermes, Daniel Jurena, Albert Steffek, Michael Judy, Russell Evers, Christopher Norman, and Chris Bordovsky. Honorary Pallbearers: Patti Hermes, Frances Kallus, and Bobbie Parr. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial: Koerth Catholic Cemetery.
