Sharon Ruth Grahmann, 79, of Rock Island, passed away peacefully October 8, 2023.  She was born August 5, 1944, to Ruth & Lawrence Grubert in Yoakum, Texas.  She was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter, Cecilia Grahmann.

Sharon is survived by:  her husband of 58 years, Fred Grahmann; her children, Tina Stavinoha (Leroy), Michael Grahmann (Sonia), Joshua Grahmann (Ashley) and Shari Grahmann; her grandchildren, Jordan Grahmann, Alicia Mattke, Camille Grahmann, Amelia Stavinoha, Emma Grahmann, Robert Stavinoha, Faith Grahmann, Maren Grahmann; her brother Larry Grubert (Doris) and her sister Debbie Lucke (Kenny).

Sharon lived her early years in Yoakum before moving to Hallettsville.  She attended St. Joseph's Catholic School in Yoakum before completing her education at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Hallettsville in 1962.  After graduation, she attended Victoria College and completed her associate degree.  On November 26, 1964, she married her true love, Fred Grahmann, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Sharon & Fred began married life living in Hallettsville before moving to Sheridan. They ultimately settled in Rock Island where they raised their four children and made countless contributions to their community.

Her children and grandchildren were the center of Sharon's world.  You could always find her volunteering at their school functions, carting kids to various activities, substitute teaching or attending as many of her grandchildren's activities as possible.  She was a servant leader by nature.  You could always find her working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure everything she was involved with was successful.  She would help in any way, and she devoted time to multiple organizations and endeavors providing outlets to the youth of the community.  She was a founding member of the Sheridan 4-H Club, President of the Sheridan Little League for many years, and an integral part of the Sheridan PTA while her children attended Sheridan Elementary and Junior High School.

As her children grew, so did Sharon.  She expanded her reach and impact beyond her local community to the county level.  She co-founded the homemaking competition at the Colorado County Fair expanding her impact beyond just youth; however, her passion was developing the youth of her community and county into future leaders.  She spent 25 years serving as a 4-H Program Coordinator for Colorado County, retiring in 2019.  She had a passion for helping kids be good stewards of the community by being involved in other service activities in their churches and other organizations.  She had a lasting impact on many youths in Colorado County.  She routinely gave her personal time to serve as a coach, supporter, a mom and grandmother to her 4-Hers.  She supported them through attendance at county, district and state 4-H activities where she always gave her full support.

Sharon was also an active partner in the family ranch.  Over the years, she and Fred provided opportunities for students from Columbus and Rice to raise and show beef projects in their local shows and the county fair when it was not always financially feasible for these kids.

Sharon received the Colorado County Older Texan award and the Friend of 4-H Award recognizing her outstanding service and support.

Visitation is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. October 20, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville, followed by a rosary at 12:30 p.m. and a memorial funeral mass at 1:00 p.m.
