Obituary

Selma (Sis) Linhart, 103, formerly of Hallettsville, passed away December 8, 2009 in Boerne, after a long bout with Alzheimer's. She was born on September 2, 1906 to John T. & Mary Schott Rees in Sublime. She married Otto Linhart on May 2, 1932 in Hallettsville. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Hallettsville Volunteer Fire Department, and Altar Society at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Kenedy and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville.

Sis and Otto moved to Kenedy in 1941. They moved back to Hallettsville in 1975. She was a florist, seamstress, and a homemaker. She always had gardens where she canned her vegetables. She was an excellent cook from regular meals to desserts. Her best dessert was apple strudel. She was always the first person there when people were in need of assistance, either bringing food or clothes, or any other type of assistance.

Sis is survived by: daughter Bettye Isbell, 2 granddaughters, Teresa (Terri) McDaniel & husband Patrick, and Patricia (Trish) Smilgin & Michael Bertani; and 2 great grandchildren, Ryan Patrick McDaniel and Kelly Brianne McDaniel, all of San Antonio.

Sis was preceded in death by: her husband Otto of 56 years; son at infancy; parents; and 7 brothers, Leonard, Percy, Will, Robert, Flem, J.H., and Marion Rees.

Funeral Mass: 11 am, Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation: 9 am, Saturday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Officiate: Rev. John Peters. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Memorials (in lieu of flowers): the Alzheimer's Research.
