Sammie Judd, 87, of Hallettsville, was taken to be with the Lord on October 16, 2025. He was born on June 30, 1938, to Sam & Eunice Schott Judd. He married Elizabeth Ann Gann on December 22, 1971.
Sammie grew up on the farm with his parents and siblings. When he turned 18, he started his career in the oil field. In June of 1971, he went to Singapore to work. He was there about six months when he called his girlfriend Elizabeth to come to Singapore to get married. They stayed another six months then came back to Texas to make their home. He stayed in the oil field for 30 years. After retiring from the oil field, he opened the Office Lounge then moved locations and it became Sammy's Night Club where he stayed in business until he retired in June of 2023. He was in business for a total of 38 years.
Sammie enjoyed playing dominoes and pool with anyone who wanted to play. He was Inducted into the Texas Domino Hall of Fame in 2023. He won several State championship Domino Tournaments in 1962, 1966 and 1969. He loved his ranch and especially his Brahma cattle which he had continued to take care of until recently.
Sammie is survived by: his devoted wife of 53 years Elizabeth; his loving children, Allison Judd Machicek & husband Allen and Sammie Lynn Judd Zappe & husband Michael; five grandchildren, Bailey Zappe & wife Hannah, Trent Zappe, Bryce Machicek, Cullen Machicek and Zoe Machicek; one great grandchild Beau Zappe; and three brothers, Arthur Gene Judd & wife Sylvia, Russell Judd & wife Sherrice and Alan Ray Judd.
Sammie was preceded in death by; his parents Sam & Eunice Judd, sister Alice Fay Judd and brothers, Bobby Lee, Donald and Larry Judd.
Sammie will be remembered for his family he leaves behind, his love of dominos, pool, football and his Brahma cattle.
Funeral Service: 3 pm, Monday, October 20, 2025, at Kubena Funeral Home of Hallettsville. Visitation: starting at 5 pm, Sunday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Pallbearers: Bailey Zappe, Trent Zappe, Bryce Machicek, Cullen Machicek, Stephen Judd, Jacobi Orr and Joshua Heffernan. Officiate: Pastor Jeremy Kraatz. Memorials: Donor's choice. Burial: Geiger Cemetery, Sublime, Texas.
