Samantha Kaye Pohl, 29, of Hallettsville, passed away July 29, 2015. She was born on Dec. 22, 1985 to Terry P. & Debi Preschern Pohl in Hallettsville. She was a Doctor of Avian Science.

Samantha graduated from Hallettsville High School in 2004. Sam graduated with her Bachelor's Degree in Poultry Science in 2008, her Master's Degree in Poultry Science in 2010, and her DVM in 2014, all at Texas A&M University. She went on to get her Master of Avian Medicine Certificate in 2015 at the University of Georgia. Sam's level of academic achievement in her chosen field is matched by only a handful of others worldwide. Sam was a very involved member of the Poultry Science Department. She served as Poultry Science Club President and Aggie Leadership Council Representative. She was a friend, colleague, and mentor to students, faculty, staff, and industry leaders.

Samantha is survived by her parents and grandfather Scott Preschern.

Funeral Service: Private Family Event at 2 pm, Sunday, Aug. 2, 2015 at Sublime Zion Lutheran Churhc. Visitation: Saturday from 4 pm to 8 pm, and Sunday from 7 am to 12 noon at Kubena Funeral Home. Pallbearers: Jared Appelt, Jacob Sims, Drew Najvar, Lance Reese, Justin Sappington, Austen Pohl, Preston Pohl, and Eric Pohl. Honorary Pallbearers: Tyler Campbell, Neil Etzler, and Cotton Foster.
