Ruth A. Smith, 98, of Hallettsville, passed away July 20, 2016. She was born on July 9, 1918 to Albert & Mary Jane Morley Davenport in the Vienna Community. She married Ernest M. Smith on October 1, 1940 in Yoakum. She was a Volunteer American Cancer Society and Alma Sunday School Class. She was a member of Texas Teacher Retirement and Mossy Grove Methodist Church.

Ruth is survived by: son Marvin Smith & wife Linda of Hallettsville; 2 daughters, Mary Eileen Wright & husband Eddie of Beaumont and Tessa Smith & spouse Val of Sacramento, CA; brother Donald J. Davenport of Corvallis, OR; sister Mildred Boethel of Hallettsville; 5 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by: her husband Ernest; 2 sons, Michael and Jimmy Smith; and parents.

Funeral Service: 2 pm, Saturday, July 23, 2016, at First United Methodist Church of Hallettsville with V isitation starting at 12 Noon. Officiant: Pastor Melanie Monroe. Memorials: the American Cancer Society, or Donor's Choice. Burial: Willow Creek Cemetery.
