Obituary

Ruth Antonia Plachy Lorfing Bishop, 98, of Ezzell, Texas, passed away on March 24, 2017, peacefully with her sister by her side. She was born March 16, 1919 in Frydek, Texas to the late Charles "Frenchie" and Della Mikeska Plachy.

For 38 years Ruth was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Houston, TX and Corpus Christi, TX.   She was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America, American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary of Lavaca County #6382, Czech Heritage Society of Lavaca County, Hackberry Shiloh TEEA (Texas Extension Education Agency) Club, Church of Christ at Ezzell, Formerly member of "Ding-a-Ling" Telephone Pioneer Family Campers, Ezzell Bible Study Group and County Squares Square Dance Club.

She is survived by: sister Anna Marie Plachy Wier & husband John Thomas Wier, their children, Cheryl Wier Schilling (Harry), Susan Wier Moore (Brendan), John "Michael" Wier (Mary V. Mach), Brian Wier (Terrie); sister-in-Law Elnora Plachy, wife of deceased brother Rueben Frank Plachy, their children Reuben Charles Plachy, Lynda Plachy Taylor (Victor), Richard Plachy (Suellen), Rodger Plachy (Valarie), Randy Plachy (Faith); her late sister Charlene's child, Terry Engelking Hargraves (Rick) and numerous great nieces and great nephews and their children. Also her late husband's sister, Dottie Lou Bishop Wyatt, Nephews, Johnny Bishop (Wanda) and Roger Bishop (Diane), Michael Wyatt, June wife of the late nephew Linsey "Linnie" Wyatt, Nieces, M'Liss Wyatt Sanford (Edward "Chip") and Lamar, husband of the late Martha Wyatt Hellums, Sue Ellen Butts Stevens (Don), and numerous great nieces and great nephews and their children. Special friend and lifetime caregiver, Sharon Leopold (Charlie).

She is preceded in death by: husbands, (1) Oscar Lorfing and (2) Donald Marvin Bishop; parents Charles and Della Plachy; sister Charlene Engelking & husband Clarence Engelking; brother Reuben Frank Plachy; sister-in-law Betty Jean Bishop Butts & husband B.W. Butts; brothers-in-law John Paul Bishop & wife Bonnie Bishop, and Roy Linsey Wyatt Sr.; niece Martha Leah Wyatt Hellums; nephews, Roy Linsey Wyatt Jr. and Thomas "Tommy" Michael Bishop; and great nephews, Taylor Plachy & Brad Bishop.

Funeral Service: 2 pm, Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Kubena Funeral Home with Visitation starting at 12 noon. Pallbearers: Richard Plachy, Randy Plachy, Michael Wier, Jeffrey Bishop, Nathan Bishop, Brian Wier and Lamar Hellums. Honorary Pallbearers: all nieces and nephews. Officiants: Mike Ezzell, Rev. Victor Taylor and Don Stevens. Memorials: VFW, Hospice of South Texas or donor's choice. Burial: Salem Cemetery.
