Ruth Botard Kane, 92, of Hallettsville, passed away May 27, 2021. She was born on August 30, 1928, to Adolph W. & Harriet Ellison Botard, in Sheridan, TX. She was the 7th of 9 children and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1946. After attending Baldwin Business College, she worked as a secretary and married Roy David Kersh in 1955. They lived in Houston, where Ruth worked as a secretary in the oil and gas industry. They had two children, Janet Ruth who was born in 1959 and Troy David, born in 1962.
After Roy passed away in 1967, Ruth moved back to Sheridan, then Hallettsville, where she worked for Allen & Allen, Attorneys as a legal secretary. She met Cecil Kane at First Baptist Church, Hallettsville and they were married there in 1970. After retiring from Allen & Allen, she worked part-time as a church secretary for First Baptist Church, Hallettsville. She also loved working alongside Cecil in the bee business. After Cecil's passing in 2006, she moved to Lake Jackson to be closer to family. In 2019, she moved to assisted living in Schulenburg.
Ruth was a loving wife and mother. She was extremely proud of her family and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had an infectious laugh that made everyone around her happy. Her love for the Lord and her staunch faith was an example to all who knew her.
Ruth is survived by: daughter Janet Lumpkins & husband Glenn of Lake Jackson; son Troy David Kersh & wife Jill of Keller; sister Dorothy "Dot" Janak; 2 grandchildren, Samuel Glenn & David Andrew "Andy" Lumpkins; and 2 great grandchildren, Kyleigh & Easton Lumpkins.
Ruth was preceded in death by: 1 st husband Roy Kersh; 2 nd husband Cecil Kane; parents; 5 brothers, Lee, Ottie, Bill, Roy and Vernon Botard; and 2 sisters, Eva Whitley & Edna Mae Hamner.
The family wishes to thank you all for your prayers, thoughts, kind words, support and love during the loss of our sweet mother, Ruth.
Funeral Service (it is up to the attendees, if they want to wear masks): 12 noon, Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at Kubena Funeral Home, Hallettsville, TX; with V isitation starting at 10 am. Pallbearers: Samuel Lumpkins, Andy Lumpkins, Alton Lee Whitley, Eddie Janak, Lynn Boone and Matt Lumpkins. Officiant: Rev Dwight Reagan. Memorials: Donor's Choice. Burial: Willow Creek Cemetery, Vienna, TX.
