Mr. Ruben Michael Garza, 48, of Sublime, died Sept. 15, 2007. He was born on March 12, 1959 to Henry & Elvira Chavez Garza in Hallettsville. He married Carla Garcia Garza on Nov. 8, 1988 in Hallettsville. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville.

Ruben loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved to hunt and fish, and to cook for his friends and family. He could often be found at the backyard barbeque putting together a feast fit for an army. Ruben was never happier than when he was spending time in God's creation, whether it was taking care of his yard, his animals, or meeting the needs of others. His passing has left an empty place in many lives that will be difficult to fill, but has a tremendous example to us all of how to demonstrate God's love through service to others.

Ruben is survived by: his wife Carla; 3 sons, Ricky Garza, Michael Garza, and Joaquin Garza; daughter Jennifer Garza; 2 brothers, Sylvester Garza, and Steve Garza & wife Charline; sister Basillia Garza & Chuck Adams; parent-in-laws, Mr. & Mrs. Dennis Appelt; 7 grandchildren, Abrianna Belle Johnson, Haven Jayne Johnson, Carlie Christine Garza, Destiney Sky Garza, McKenzie Reign Garza, Alexis Esmeralda Amailla, and Cam'ron Israel Amailla; 9 nieces and nephews, Alicia Garza, Felicia Garza, Christian Axel, Pvt. 1st Class Henry Garza, Emilie Sprenger, Magdalena Hugo, Alexander Knochel, Jennifer Green, and Jason Green.

Ruben was preceded in death by: his parents Henry & Elvira Garza; brother Robert Garza; Estella Garza; and Father-in-law Magdaleno Garcia.

Service: 2 pm, Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation: 1 pm, Tuesday at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosary: 7pm Tuesday at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiates: Rev. John Peters and Rev. Terry Horton. Pallbearers: Steven Garza, Ricky Garza, Michael Garza, Christian Axel, Chuck Adams, Tommy Galloway, Marlin Galloway, and Jimmy Gutierrez. Honorary Pallbearers: Pvt. 1st Class Henry Garza, Jim Jakubek, Debbie Fishbeck, Jim Zachary, Terry Johnson, and Albert Gutierrez. Burial: Geiger Cemetery. Memorials (in lieu of flowers): donations to the family will be greatly appreciated, or charity of your choice.
