Royce Gene Dusek

Royce Gene Dusek, 76, of Hallettsville, Texas, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026. He was born on July 29, 1949, in Hallettsville, He was the fourth child to Victor Sr & Christine Dusek. He graduated from Hallettsville High School in 1968, and proudly joined the United States Air Force where he served for 4 years and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. In June of 1977, He started a position at the Hallettsville Post Office. He worked there for 30 years and ultimately served in the role of Postmaster before retiring in 2007.

Royce married the love of his life Joan Dierschke, of Hallettsville, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on January 13, 1973, where they remained members throughout his life. They celebrated 53 years together sharing in the upbringing of their 3 sons.

Royce was a big sports fan and loved watching his sons play football and baseball. He was involved in the Hallettsville Little League and coached all the baseball teams on which his boys played. He spent many afternoons and evenings tending crops in his garden, herding cattle in the pasture, and hunting deer in the fall. He was a longtime Astros fan through the good and the bad and was recently known to even cheer for the Brewers when his favorite pitcher was up.

Royce loved his family, being outside, good BBQ, all things lemon flavored, and a frosty cold beer. His smile, stories, and jokes will be missed by those that were lucky enough to know him.

Royce is survived by: his wife Joan; sons, Ryan Dusek (Kandace) of New Braunfels, Brad Dusek (Candice) of Fulshear and Mike Dusek of Schulenburg; his 8 grandchildren, Austin Dusek (Summer), Sydni Yoho (Craig), Karli Dusek, Nolan Dusek, Carson Dusek, Reagan Dusek, Reese Dusek and Reed Dusek; 2 great-grandchildren, Daisy Yoho and Dean Dusek; brothers, Victor Dusek Jr (Melinda) and Marvin Dusek (Carol); as well as countless other dear family and friends.

Royce is preceded in death by his parents and sister Annie Dusek.

Funeral Mass Service: 11 am, Friday, July 17, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville, with Visitation at 9:30 am and Rosary starting at 10:30 am. Officiant: Rev. Michael Rother. Memorials: Charity of Your Choice. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
