October 14, 1920 – April 18, 2007
Roy was a life time member of the V.F.W. He was a member of the Murchisons Masonic Lodge 80, AF and AM for over 55 years, and 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and Shriner. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hallettsville.
Roy was a veteran of World War II. He obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant in the 859th Bomb Squadron of the US Army Air Corps; and received the American Defense Service Medal; Good Conduct Medal; and the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 1 bronze campaign star for Rome-Arno campaign.
Roy is survived by: daughter Mary Jane Blum & husband Wesley of Conroe; 2 grandson, Ronald Blum & wife Tracy, and Roy Blum & wife Cathy; 4 great-granddaughters, Brittany, Brooke, Courtney, and Riley; nephew Bobby Clark & wife Fayrene; Niece Barbara Culp & husband Charles; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Roy was preceded in death by: wife Mildred on Oct. 1, 2006; parents; an infant sister; and 3 brothers, T.M., James, and W.S. Harper.
Service: 2 pm, Sunday, April 22, 2007 at First United Methodist Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: Noon, Saturday at Kubena Funeral Home, with family receiving visitors between 5 pm to 7 pm that evening. Officiate: Rev. Lundy Hooten. Pallbearers: Bobby Clark, Scott Jones, Richard Bierman, J.J. Isbell, John Culp, and Charles Culp. Burial: Hallettsville City Cemetery. Memorials: Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, or First United Methodist Church of Hallettsville.
