IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Roy Edward
Evans
December 10, 1930 – June 3, 2014
Roy Edward Evans, 83, of Houston, passed away June 3, 2014. His sense of humor and warm presence will be missed by all.
Roy was born on Dec. 10, 1930 to Robert R. & Dora Gregory Evans in Lavaca County, TX. Roy "Poppa" Evans was a simple man, born and raised on a farm in Hallettsville, Texas. In 1949 at the age of 19 he married 18 year old Alice Margaret Evans. They settled in Houston where he worked hard every day to support his family. His children included a son, Larry Edward and daughter Kathy Sue.
To the outside world his life may have seemed common. Even though he never earned a fortune, never took exotic vacations, never drove expensive cars, or lived in a mansion; he was an uncommonly wealthy man. He possessed what can never be bought: a loving family. He had a faithful wife of 64 years and children who respected and loved him.
Roy was lucky enough to play with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Roy is survived by: his wife Alice Margaret Evans; daughter Kathy Peters & husband August of Montgomery, TX; 2 brothers, Donald Evans of Humble, TX, and Vernon Evans of Lissie, TX; 5 grandchildren, Laura Bell of Hockley, TX, Angela Evans of Hockley, TX, Tiffany Carson of Tomball, TX, Kelly Gardner of Katy, TX and Rebecca Evans of Houston, TX; 8 great granddaughters, Rachael McConnell, Danielle Benton, Haille Polichnia, Tyana Hudspeth, Bethany Bell, Jewelia Bell, Fairyn Carson, and Lillian Clayton; and 3 great grandsons, Rusty Woodard, Gary Woodard, and Evan Carson.
Roy was preceded in death by: his son Larry Edward Evans; parents; and 2 brothers, Kenneth and Raymond Evans.
Roy's family already misses this funny, expert card and domino player. His memory will live in our hearts forever.
