IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ronald “Christopher”
Layton
March 21, 1972 – August 17, 2025
Ronald "Christopher" Layton, 53, was called home on August 17, 2025. He was known for his kind, gentle, and caring disposition. Born on March 21, 1972, in Victoria, Texas, he was the beloved son of Ronald Ellis Layton and Dorothy Nell Pohl of Hallettsville.
A talented athlete, Chris found early success on the football field, earning a college scholarship for his accomplishments. He had a degree in Medical Lab Technology and began his career working in multiple hospitals in the crossroads area. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Priscilla Harp Layton. They became an instant family and built a beautiful life together. He transitioned from the hospital setting to Formosa Plastics where he worked for over 25 years and was a lab supervisor. He truly loved his work family and was known for his fairness, honesty, and integrity. He left an indelible mark on those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Chris was so proud of his children, and he was a constant source of inspiration through his unfaltering presence. The instillment of his strong work ethic, selflessness, humility and strength are reflected in their many achievements. All three of his sons have proudly served in the U.S. military with two currently on Active Duty. His daughters are both compassionate healthcare professionals and loving mothers.
Chris gracefully navigated chronic illness and found strength daily through his devotion and love for God. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He enjoyed participating in A.C.T.S. and the opportunity to build the Christian community with his Brothers in Christ.
Chris is survived by: his devoted wife Priscilla, his heart, soul, friend and companion; five children, Logan (Sandra), Chance (Morgan), Ashley (Travis), Mallorie (Timothy) and Dallas (Katie); father Ronald Ellis; mother-in-law Frances Lewis; aunt Helen Appelt; sister Rhonda Adams (Raymond); brothers, Timothy and Jeffrey; sister-in-law Cheri Ayoub (Rob); brother-in-law Timothy Harp (Carrie) as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was also a proud "Pops" to eight beloved grandchildren.
Though he faced many trials, Chris met each challenge with grace and resilience. He lived not for himself but for others. He will be missed deeply and remembered forever.
