Ronald R. Jefferson, 69, passed away on June 30, 2016 in Hallettsville, TX, after a year-long battle with cancer. Ronnie was born Feb. 5, 1947 in Houston, TX, to Harry R. Jefferson and Jasa Lyles Jefferson. He was a graduate of South Houston High School and Lamar University.

Ronald is survived by a sister Darlene Davis and husband Mike, brother Harry Jefferson and wife Jane, cousins Karen Thurston and husband Scott, and Michelle Barnes, 2 step-daughters, Crystal Martinez and Alex Deanda, nephews, Brian Jefferson, Rocky Kelley and Randy Kelley, nieces, Bonnie Blackwood and Amy Kelley and 8 grand nieces and nephews.

Ronnie was a teacher and coach for many years in several locations in Texas including, Sabinal, Sinton, Aransas Pass, Gregory-Portland, Sequin, Trinity, Tomball, Beaumont, Winnie, Hull-Daisetta, and Hallettsville. He also coached a semester in Hobbs, NM. Ronnie loved teaching and coaching and especially loved working with his students. He loved his years in Hallettsville and the many students he taught and coached, the teachers he worked with, and the many friends he enjoyed. Ronnie enjoyed getting together whenever possible with his lifelong friends and making special memories as well as sharing time with his family.

The family would like to thank those who called, visited and prayed for Ronnie during his illness. They would also like to thank both the staff at Hospice of South Texas and Hallettsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The family offers a special thanks to Katrina Bedford for her help, care and friendship during Ronnie's illness.

Memorial Funeral Service: 1 pm, Saturday, July 23, 2016, at Kubena Funeral Home; with visitation at 12 Noon. Officiant: Rev. Emory Gadd. Memorials (in lieu of flowers): Hallettsville ISD Athletic Activity Account or the Cancer Research Institute.
