Obituary

Roland H. Henneke , 90, of Hallettsville, passed away November 18, 2019. He was born December 20, 1928 to Alfred and Mina Henneke in Arneckeville, Texas.

Roland was raised on a farm in Arneckeville along with eight siblings. He served in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany. He met the love of his life, Dorothy Grahmann, at a dance in Hallettsville. They were married on November 9, 1953 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Roland and Dorothy lived in Victoria, and then moved to Houston in the late 50's where they raised seven children. Roland retired from the Houston Chronicle in 1995 and they moved to Hallettsville.

Roland was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Dorothy; grandson, Trey Kapalski; great granddaughter, Anabelle Anzaldo; daughter-in-law, Rose Henneke; his brothers, Edwin, Rueben, Arno, Ben; and Leroy Henneke; sisters, Benitha Baron, Hermine Crain, and Lorene Kramer; parents, Alfred and Mina Henneke.

Roland is survived by his children: Gerlene (Gerry) Gardner and husband Roy; Jocelyn (Jackie) Kapalski and husband, Harold; Laurel (Laurie) Martinez and husband, Jesse; R. John; Richard (Rick) and wife, Kathy; A. James (Jim) and wife, Colleen; Jeffrey (Jeff) and wife, Kemberly. Grandchildren: Heather Gardner; Roland Kapalski; Sebastian Anzaldo and wife, Kaley; Tyler Henneke and wife, Christy; Amanda Henneke; Andrea Gonzales and husband, Ed; Rachel, Andrew and wife JulieAnn, and Ashley Romano. Great grandchildren: Katelyn and Garrett Henneke; Ophelia Anzaldo; Logan, Hannah, Makayla, Aurora, and Kadence.

Visitation at 5:00 pm, Saturday, November 23, 2019 with Holy Rosary following at 7:30 pm at Kubena Funeral Home, 507 S. Main St., Hallettsville, TX 77964. Funeral Mass at 2:00 pm, Sunday, November 24, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 400 E. Fifth St., Hallettsville, TX 77964. Graveside services following at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Vernon Henneke, Jimmy Henneke, Mark Kramer, Randy Fojt, Eddie Grahmann, and Tommy Grahmann, Jr.

Memorials may be to Roland and Dorothy Grahmann Henneke Memorial Scholarship Fund at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
