Obituary

Rogers Paul Guidry, funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 9, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hallettsville, Texas, with Pastor Dr. Alan P. Williams, and assisting minister Pastor Herb C. Beyer Jr., officiating. Grave side services and interment will follow at Hallettsville City Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Friday, January 8, 2010, from 2 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. with a Prayer Service at Kubena Funeral Home starting at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday from 7 a.m. at Kubena Funeral Home, until time of services.

Rogers was born on February 15, 1943 and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana, and a long-time resident of Hallettsville; Mr. Guidry went to be with our Lord and Savior in heaven at the age of 66 years, 10 months, and 19 days on Monday, January 4, 2010 at 12:40 p.m. at Lavaca Medical Center in Hallettsville. Rogers enjoyed his time outdoors after retirement from working 44 years in the oilfield. He loved to hunt, go riding and just relaxing in his 22' Blue Wave boat, salt-water fishing especially at Port O'Connor, fresh-water fishing at his pond on the farm where he also loved to work and feed his mother-in-law's cattle. He thoroughly enjoyed watching and rooting on his favorite football team from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the LSU Tigers, on TV. Rogers loved to cook delicious Cajun food. His specialty items were Jambalaya, Etouffee, and Gumbo and that usually included at least one item of seafood such as shrimp, crawfish, crab meat, or lobster tail, in them.

Rogers is survived by his wife Charlene Ann Hemmi Guidry of 31 years, whom he married on June 11, 1978 in St. Peter Lutheran Church of Hallettsville; his mother-in-law Lelia Ann Rother Hemmi of Hallettsville; two sons, Rogers Paul Guidry Jr. and wife Christine Benoit, and Chris Guidry both of New Iberia, Louisiana; his half-sisters, Lynda Louise Guidry of Maurice, Louisiana, Paulette Guidry Benoit and husband Terry of Carencro, Louisiana; and half-brother Troy Joseph Guidry and wife Lisa Beadle of Youngsville, Louisiana. Also surviving, his four grandchildren, Michelle Lynn Guidry, Michael Paul Guidry, Christopher Joseph Guidry, and Holli Denise Guidry, all of New Iberia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rogers was preceded in death by his father Oreste Guidry; his mother Marie Helen Boudreaux Trahan; his step-father John Lovelace Trahan; his step-mother Marie Louise Comeaux Guidry; his father-in-law Henry Gus Hemmi; half-brother Carl Felix Guidry; his paternal grandparents Charles Felix Guidry and wife Louise Prejean; and his maternal grandparents Octave Boudreaux and wife Editha Duhon.

Pallbearers will be Terry Johnson, Daniel Kuhn, Eugene Garza, William Todd Crisman, Harvey Foster Sr., Keith Hoy, Patrick J. Carlyon, and Troy J. Guidry.

Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be the grandchildren, Michelle Lynn Guidry, Michael Paul Guidry, Christopher Joseph Guidry, and Holli Denise Guidry.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Peter Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall Fund, St. Peter Memorial Fund, or to the donor's choice.
