Roger Dale McElroy, 70, of Ezzell, TX, passed away unexpectedly on Friday October 30, 2020.  He was born on February 9, 1950, in Hallettsville, Texas, to Dorothy Nell Gregory McElroy and the late Morris Dee McElroy.

Roger is survived by his mother Dorothy Nell,  sister-in-law Melissa McElroy, nephew M. Allen McElroy Jr. & wife Jamie, nephew Charles Soechting Jr & wife Lindsay, grandniece Emory and grandnephew Charles III.

Roger was preceded in death by his father Morris Dee McElroy, and by his older brother Morris A. "Buddy" McElroy, Sr.

Roger was a sweet and gentle soul, loved by all who knew him.  He enjoyed spending time with family, going to dances, and watching movies and sports.  In recent years, he was especially appreciated by his family as the daily caregiver to his beloved mother.  They loved each other dearly and were inseparable. He will be missed terribly.

Funeral Service (All attendees should wear masks): 3 pm, Friday, November 6, 2020, at Kubena Funeral Home; with Visitation starting at 1 pm. Pallbearers: Ronnie McElroy, Rudy Moreno, Ross Woytasczyk, Bobby Appelt, Constable James Calaway and James Calaway Jr. Officiant: Pastor Jim Herrington. Memorials: American Heart Association or Donor's Choice. Burial: Salem Cemetery. A come and go reception with a barbecue meal will be held at the McElroy homestead in Ezzell following the burial.
