Robert R. Vasek, 90, of Hallettsville, passed away Feb. 21, 2010. He was born on June 7, 1919 to Frank & Rosalie Castecka Vasek in Rabb Switch, Texas. He married Lorine Lorfing Vasek on Sept. 15, 1952 in La Grange. He served in the US Army during WWII and received the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 1 bronze service star for the Rhineland Campaign, and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.

Robert is survived by: 2 daughters, Doris Vasek & husband Martin Whitaker of Rockwall, and Roberta Vasek of Austin; and sister Leona Najvor of Hallettsville.

Robert was preceded in death by: his wife Lorine, parents, and sister Emily Clark.

Funeral Mass Service: 2 pm, Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation: 4 pm, Monday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosary: 7 pm, Monday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Rev. John Peters. Pallbearers: Mike Steffek, Frankie L. McElroy, Rey Cedillos, Martin Whitaker, Robert Bordovsky, and Donald Lorfing. Entombment: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Hospice of South Texas.
