Obituary

Robert Steffek, 73, of Hallettsville, passed away on September 20, 2021. He was born on September 22, 1947 to Frank T and Mary Kallus Steffek in Hallettsville, Tx. Robert was the youngest of three siblings. He attended Providence School through the sixth grade, until the small country school closed.  He started seventh grade at Sacred Heart Catholic School and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1965. Following graduation, he went to work at Janak Packing. Robert married Leona Migl on May 20, 1967 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He then went to work at Tex Tan Manufacturing, later to become Tandy Brands Accessories.

He is a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Robert served as an usher, is a Life member of the Knights of Columbus and also belonged to the Pecan Growers Association. Besides working at Tandy Brands, Robert and Leona raised cattle, harvested pecans, did their own hay baling and custom work for neighbors. Robert also loved to deer hunt, fish in the Lavaca River and especially loved to squirrel hunt. After 40 years, he retired from Tandy Brands in 2007. He then had more time to enjoy his cattle and hunting.

Survivors are his wife Leona, their 3 children, Douglas (Tena) Steffek, Martin (Casey) Steffek, Steven (Jennifer) Steffek; 7 grandchildren Kelsey (Cody) Fowlkes, Dillon, Crystal, Trevor, Hailey, Nolan, and Adam; 2 siblings Alice (Leroy) Janak, Raymond (Virginia) Steffek.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter-in-law Karen Steffek.

Funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville, Texas on Saturday, September 25, 2021. Visitation will begin to the public at the Church at 9:00 am, rosary to be recited at 10:30 am, and funeral mass at 11:00 am. Burial to follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers include : Dillon Steffek, Trevor Steffek, Nolan Steffek, Adam Steffek, Cody Fowlkes and Dalton Dieringer. Honorary pallbearers include: Kelsey Fowlkes, Crystal Steffek, Benjamin Grames, and Hailey Steffek.
