Obituary

Robert H. Kloppenburg, 85, of Hallettsville, passed away Aug. 11, 2012. He was born on July 18, 1927 to Harper W. & Celia Meyer Kloppenburg in Sublime, TX. He married Grace Petru on April 8, 1990 in Las Vegas, NV. He was a veteran of WWII, member of the Lions Club in Sheridan, Zion Church Council, Sunday School Superintendent, Board of Trustees for Sheridan Independent School District, and member of Zion Lutheran Church of Sublime.

Robert had worked 42 years for Shell Oil Company as a field foreman, and 6 years as oilfield consultant for Shana Petroleum.

Robert is survived by: his wife Grace; son Robert D. Kloppenburg & wife Jackie of Spring; 3 grandchildren, Megan Culpepper & husband Jason of Houston, Sara Adkins & husband Landon of Carrollton, and Emily Kloppenburg of Aberdeen, Scotland; and 2 great grandchildren, Henry & Holden Culpepper.

Robert was preceded in death by: his parents; 3 brothers, John, Arthur F. and Richard Kloppenburg; and sister at infancy.

Funeral Service: 10 am, Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012, at Zion Lutheran Church of Sublime. Visitation: 4 pm, Tuesday at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Rev. Herb Beyer. Pallbearers: Mike Sonntag, Harold Kloppenburg, Anthony Petru, Mark Petru, Baron Hanzel and Trey Hart. Honorary Pallbearers: Dr. John McNeil, Dr. Richard Sawyers, Alvin Mikulenka, Freddie Kloppenburg, Jason Culpepper, Al Didner, and Landon Adkins. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Memorials: Zion Lutheran Church of Sublime, or Donor's choice.
