IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Alexander
Butschek Sr.
January 11, 1928 – August 12, 2025
Robert Alexander "Bob" Butschek of Hallettsville, went peacefully to be with our Lord and Savior on August 12, 2025, at the age of 97. He was born on January 11,1928, at the family home in Hackberry, to Fred and Elizabeth (Henneke) Butschek. He grew up a country boy in Hackberry and quit school in the sixth grade to help out on the farm. As a young man he joined the Merchant Marines, obtained his GED, and eventually received several certifications from University of Houston after attending night school.
Bob met Loraine Mikulenka when she was working at Perry's in Hallettsville and instantly knew she was the love of his life. They married on April 12, 1948, and moved to Houston, where Bob got a job at a dairy delivering milk to homes. Through the assistance of one of his milk route customers, he obtained a job at Rohm & Haas Chemical Company, soon becoming the "boss". He worked his way up at Rohm and Haas and was a well-respected employee until he retired after almost forty years. He and Loraine had four children; Robert Jr. "Bobby", Ronald, Wayne, and Karen. Weekends were spent at the family farm at Mont, working hard raising cattle, tending the garden and taking care of the property.
Bob and Loraine were often found at Mont Store playing dominoes with family and friends, and the grandchildren considered themselves lucky to spend time there with them, running around playing and putting chips and sodas on their tab! He was an excellent polka dancer and he and Loraine seemed to effortlessly glide across the dance floor. He couldn't wait to get back to Mont after he retired and built Loraine's dream home where they lived many years.
Bob was a member of the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus. Family was very important to him. He and Loraine enjoyed hosting family celebrations both at their homes in Houston and at the farm. He was an awesome storyteller and told many stories about his life adventures and experiences. He is the perfect example of a life well-lived.
Bob is survived by: two sons, Ronald and Wayne (wife Yolanda), all of Hallettsville; daughter Karen Jansky (husband Kenneth) of Richmond; 12 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren who loved him dearly.
Bob was preceded in death by: his wife Loraine; his parents; five brothers, Alfred, Lee, Victor, William "Frank" and Gilbert Butschek; two sisters, Margaret and Pearline; and his oldest son Robert "Bobby" Jr.
