Robert (Bobby) Louis Bludau Sr., 61, of Hallettsville passed away on Sunday, March 20th, 2022, at his home, with his family by his side.  He was born on January 24, 1961, in Hallettsville, to Jodie & Alice Bludau.  He fought a courageous two-year battle against a rare cancer that ultimately took his life but never conquered his spirit.  He was a devoted husband to his best friend, and wife, Carol. He was a proud & loving father, grandfather, & friend.

Bobby being the youngest of seven children had plenty of older influences that taught him how to hunt, fish, trap, garden, camp, raise animals, and be the ultimate country boy which he took much pride in.  He was a boy scout, loved playing sports, listening to music, going on fishing trips with his buddies, growing up with his cousins, and spending time at his father's icehouse listening to old timers' stories.  He was always into trouble and the life of the party since an early age.  He always seized the moment and took advantage of any opportunities he had with a positive mindset.

Bobby graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School in 1979 and later attended Victoria College where he studied land management.  He always knew he wanted to live in the country, have land of his own, and raise a family. His first job was at Teletena until he was hired soon after by CPL to work on the line crew and eventually transitioned to Coleto Creek Power plant where he worked in operations and maintenance until he retired.

After living in Victoria for years, he moved to Hope, TX in 1993 when he found the land of his dreams.  Every year he planted a vegetable garden large enough so that he could share his crop with friends and family.  He will always be remembered for his famous canned pickles, picante sauce, and jelly. He raised cattle, chickens, and others various farm animals.  His hard work ethic allowed him to live life to the fullest and was a self-sufficient man with many talents.  Nothing brought him more joy than cooking for friends and family. He could always be found by the BBQ pit with a beer in his hand while telling stories.  Through his years he created lifelong friendships with co-workers, neighbors, and acquaintances.  He never met a stranger.  He was a major influence on all of those around him and always lead through example.  Bobby was a lifelong supporter and fan of Sacred Heart Catholic School and athletics department.  His favorite pastime was SH football games on Friday nights.  He was a member of the Sacred Heart Booster Club, and Knights of Columbus.  He and his storytelling days will be truly missed by all of those around him.

Bobby is survived by:  his wife Carol; 3 sons, Bobby Bludau Jr., Heath Bludau and Cole Bludau; daughter Jade Bludau; step-daughter Brandi Pollard & husband Andrew; brother Joseph Bludau III; 2 sisters, Virginia Korenek and Alice "Dolly" Johnson; and 2 grandchildren, Leo Maggione and Aubrey Bludau-Ullmann.

Bobby was preceded in death by:  his parents; brother Charles Bludau; 2 sisters, Marilyn Marikle and Donna Nevlud; and step-son Clinton Harrington.

Funeral Mass Service: 11 am, Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville, TX; Visitation starting at 9 am with Rosary starting at 10:30 am. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic School Athletics or Donor's Choice.
