Richard Patrick Grahmann

Richard Patrick Grahmann, 81, of Hallettsville passed away September 6, 2026. He was born January 7, 1945, to John and Laura Rothbauer Grahmann. He was 10th of 13 children and was born and raised on the family farm and attended Sacred Heart Catholic School. He was a hard worker and plowed many a field in Hallettsville. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a 50 plus years Honorary member of the Knights of Columbus.

Richard enjoyed playing 31 card games with his family, bingo at the nursing home, working on puzzles, playing moon dominoes and drinking Dr. Pepper. He also made some of the best homemade wine. He enjoyed soap operas, Bonanza, Gun Smoke and Texas Walker Ranger. He played a larger-than-life role as "Uncle Patty" to 57 nieces and nephews. Every niece and nephew held a unique bond with Uncle Patty. Stories of throwing house shoes at nephews when trying to watch Bonanza. Uncle Patty always greeted you with a big bear hug accompanied by a big grin and laughter. He loved his trucks. His loud exhaust on his white Chevy pickup and then his two-tone brown and tan Chevy pickup. He had the Grahmann typical heavy foot.

Richard is survived by: his brothers, Lee Roy (Catherine) Grahmann of Victoria and Edwin Grahmann of Victoria; sisters, Kathryn (Kenneth) Darilek of Victoria, Loretta (Roy) Hardcastle of Hallettsville and Rosemary Mikush of Victoria; and special friends Edmund Koerth and Matt "Too Tall" Bludau.

Richard was preceded in death by: his parents John & Laura Grahmann; sisters, Dorothy Henneke and Margaret Fojt; brothers, Leon, Johnny, Thomas Sr and Anthony Grahmann; infant brother Emmanuel; and sister in laws and brother in laws.

A special thank you to the staff at Hallettsville Nursing and Rehabilitation for their wonderful care and services. The nursing home staff and residents were like an extended family to Richard.
