Richard C Maricle Jr., 68, of Hallettsville, known to many as Rick, passed away on January 17, 2025. He was born on December 2,1956, to Beverly Jean Smith & Richard Maricle Sr in Cortland, New York. He was the second born of 3 boys. He spent most of his childhood milking cows on a dairy farm.
In his early 20s, Rick headed to Texas with friends to find work. He started working on the pipelines with H&K and found he loved it. In 1982 he found love & then married Janice Woytek in 1983 starting a family soon after. He welded for 40 plus years working all over Texas & several other states. Over the years he worked on many different things in the oil field industry.
When not working, Rick helped his in-laws tend to their cattle & their land over the years. He was a true handyman building anything out of metal or wood. He also had a passion for cooking and was an amazing cook that entered in several cookoffs over the years & won several 1st place awards. During his life he acquired a passion for gardening. He perfected this skill and could grow tomatoes as big 4 plus inches at times that covered the whole palm of his hand. After he retired, he enjoyed spending time with his family & grandkids, teaching them all of life's trades.
Rick is survived by: his wife of 41 years, Janice Maricle; daughter Candace Hilt & son-in-law Daniel Hilt, daughter Meagan Maricle & partner Mark Castillo; 4 grandchildren, Matthew, Emily & Jacob Hilt and Payten Castillo along with his 2 brothers, Larry Hayes & Jerry Maricle.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church, 501 East Second Street, Hallettsville, TX.
