Obituary

Richard Henneke, 91 of Hallettsville passed away February 11, 2023.  He was born October 8, 1931, to Fred & Hattie Henneke.  He was raised in the Vsetin area where he attended school and helped on the family farm.  He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, Council 2433.

Richard married, Dorothy Galetka on November 25, 1954, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church and together they raised 8 children.  Family meant the world to him, and he loved to see the family grow.  He farmed many of acres of cotton, corn, peas, and tomatoes.  He was also a carpenter most of his life until retirement then enjoyed wood-working and refurnishing old furniture.  He retired once again to the "life of dominoes".

Richard enjoyed many of games with his domino buddies and then eventually his daily games of "no count" with his toughest competitor, Dorothy.  He had a sharp mind till the very end.

Richard is survived by:  wife of 68 years, Dorothy; 8 children, Janice Korinek, Karen Chaloupka (Patrick), Anthony Henneke, Glenda Tobola (David), Clinton Henneke, Gilbert Henneke (Carol), Rhonda Brown (Stanley) and Sheila Jansky (Dennis); 22 grandchildren, Kevin (Julie), Westin (Brooklyn) & Derek Korinek, Rodney (Lydea) Chaloupka, Tracy (Josh) Booker, Kelly (Kirk) Jeffers, Jeffery (Heather), Ryan (Janna) & Scott (Megan) Tobola, Frederick, Elizabeth, James, Mary & Paul Henneke, Justin (Madeline) Brown, Jenna (Cade) Brewer, Julie (Austin) Hannah, Jared & Jilllian Brown, Stephen (Casey), Kendall (Brynna) & Braden Jansky; 18 great-grandchildren and one step, Kevin Jr., Case, Jaxson, Carver & Keller Korinek, Claire Chaloupka, Jenson & Kelsea Booker, Hayden, Kaleb & Hattie Jeffers, Jarrett, Shelby, Gage & Corbin Tobola, Bowen & Barrett Brewer, Blair Hannah & Braighlynn Jansky; brother Kenneth Henneke (Annie Mae); and many nieces & nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by; his parents, brother Fred Jr., sister Thelma Mikulenka, and son-in-law John Korinek.

The family would like to thank Stevens Nursing & Rehab and Hospice of South Texas for their care.

Funeral Mass Service: 11 am, Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville; Visitation starting at 9:30 am, with Rosary starting at 10:30 am. Pallbearers (grandsons): Kevin Korinek, Rodney Chaloupka, Jeffery Tobola, Frederick Henneke, Justin Brown, Stephen Jansky. Honorary pallbearers: all grandchildren. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hospice of South Texas or donor's choice. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
