Obituary

Rebecca Lynn "Becky" Wick, 48, of Hallettsville, passed away October 15, 2010. She was born on June 6, 1962 to Cecil A. & Georgia Thieme White in Cuero. When she was two days old, her daddy flew her and her Mama to Wharton where she was raised.

Becky had a picture perfect childhood full of love and happiness. She was a joy to her parents and siblings because she was so precocious, intelligent, and full of life. Becky met her best friend, Alison Torp Box, in the eighth grade. A friendship that has lasted a lifetime.

Becky graduated from Wharton High School in 1980. Not knowing what direction she wanted to take in her career, she and her best friend, Alison, decided to pursue an education in nursing at Wharton County Junior College. She became a Registered Nurse. With her huge caring heart and willingness to learn, she soon became a terrific nurse. She made deep impressions on her patients and anyone she came into contact with. During her eighteen years with Detar Hospital she formed many close friendships with her co-workers and bosses, who are too many to name.

On Saturday, September 20, 1986, she married the love of her life, Mark Anthony Wick, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Mark and Becky were perfect together. She was always the one who helped Mark take the next step. Mark was the one who helped Becky come down to earth when life seemed to spiral out of control. She loved and adored him every day of her life. He was her everything. Mark and Becky fit perfectly together and their love was deeper than any ocean.

Becky loved being with Mark, her children and grandson. She served on the Ezzell School Board for several years. Thus exemplifies her need to not only better the school her children attended, but also the community that she lived in. She was never happier than when they took family vacations to ski in Cloudcroft, NM, and float the river or camp at Camp Wood, Del Rio and Concan. Mark and her rarely did anything without their kids. She made a beautiful home for her family. Becky was a perfectionist in everything she did. Her home was immaculate, a good habit she learned from her Mama and taught to her daughter. Becky always had such good, fun times with Mark and her friends from near and far.

So many friends, so much family, so many memories and simply not enough space to fit it all in. Becky was loved so much and will be missed so very much. With God's will, We all wait for the time when we can be with her again.

Becky is survived by: her husband Mark; daughter Amy Jalufka & husband Jason of Hallettsville; 2 sons, Payton and Sterling Wick of Ezzell; grandson Rylan Jalufka; her mother Georgia White; 4 sisters, Linda McPherson & husband Dennis of Mountain Home, Susan Holesovsky of Brazoria, Cynthia Reid & husband George of Austin, Jane Lane & husband Randy of Port O'Conner; sister-in-law Kathy White of Wharton; brother Michael White & wife Becky of Wharton; god children, Abby Fowlkes and Michael Wick; numerous nieces & nephews; numerous grand nieces & nephews; best friend Alison Torp Box; and her Yorkshire Terrier, "Duke".
