IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rebecca (Becky)
Hermes Stastny
May 5, 1950 – May 17, 2024
Rebecca (Becky) Hermes Stastny, 74, of Hallettsville, danced into heaven on May 17, 2024 surrounded by her loved ones. Becky was born May 5, 1950, to Joe and Adele Hermes in Hallettsville, Texas. She grew up working hard on the Hermes homestead and that work ethic was instilled into her throughout her life. She could not sit still!
Becky worked many years as a secretary and later found her passion owning a decorating business. This was something she truly loved and took great pride in her work. She made many lifelong friends and touched many lives along the way.
There were many hobbies and interests Becky had. She always had a lot of plants and definitely two green thumbs. She exhumed a love of reading and could finish a book in one day, especially Danielle Steele novels. Traditions and spending time with family was one of her most treasured things. Christmas was her favorite holiday, which was quite fitting with red being her favorite color. Cooking brought her much joy and she was great at it! There wasn't anyone who didn't like her meals. She especially enjoyed cooking for her family, anything they requested. Her daughters' favorite was Becky's chicken and dumplings. Other favorites shared by family and friends were kolaches, salsa, canned pickles and sauerkraut- all homemade of course!
Becky was a very loving and caring person. She gave the best hugs! She was very outgoing and could talk to anyone about anything. One of Becky's greatest qualities was her generosity. She never turned anyone down… she could not say no… giving to others was one of the things that made her so special! She was devoted to her family and dearest friends whom she loved very much. She will leave a lifelong void in all their hearts.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jodie Hermes. She is survived by her daughters, Vanessa (Chris) Cantu of Victoria and Marisa (Robert) Maes of Weimar and husband, Larry Stastny. Her grandchildren, Zane, Elena, Evan and Mallory, will forever cherish their time and memories made with their grandma. Her memory will be forever honored by her family: sister Jeanette (Donald) McAfee; brothers, Tommy (Joyce) Hermes, Kenneth (Lora) Hermes, Ronnie (Maria) Hermes and all her nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be held Monday, May 27 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hallettsville with Msgr. Jim Henke officiating . The family will receive friends and relatives from 10-11 a.m. Rosary will be recited at 11, with the mass immediately following. A luncheon will follow the mass at St. Mary's Parish Hall. Memorials: Friench Simpson Memorial Library or donor's choice.
