Peggy Lois Zrzavy Kostelnik, 89, of Hallettsville, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2025.  She was born on November 5, 1935, in Shiner, Texas, to Anton and Annie Zrzavy.  She was lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and she was also active in the Catholic Daughters of America and the SPJST.

On September 25, 1951, Peggy married the love of her life, Tom Kostelnik, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville, Texas.  Together, Peggy and Tom raised five children:  David, Thomas, Ronald, Debi and Michael.  Though they sorrowfully lost twin sons at birth, they shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and memories with their surviving children.

In her early years, Peggy worked as a nurse's aide at Stevens Convalescent Center and in the cafeterias at Hallettsville Independent School District.  Later, she became the proud owner and operator of Peggy's Beauty Salon, where she spent many years working alongside her daughter Debi and a wonderful team of stylists, until her retirement at the age of 75.

Peggy had a passion for gardening and had a true gift for making things bloom.  Her green thumb could make anything grow.  Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She created countless cherished memories with them, from lively Halloween parties to fun-filled summer pool gatherings, always overflowing with laughter and snacks. She took great pride in supporting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's sports and was their #1 fan.  Her love, humor and joyful spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.

Peggy is survived by:  her sons, Thomas & wife Kathy, Ronald & wife Gloria and Michael & Jennifer; daughters-in-law, Marsha Kostelnik and Theresa Kostelnik; son-in-law Jimmy Franta; grandchildren, Brian Kostelnik & wife Kristi, Kevin Kostelnik & wife Loren, Kristy Gilbert & husband Drew, Angela Pustka & husband Scott, Melinda Fojt & husband Galen, Steven Franta & wife Amanda, Kyle Franta & wife Cassie, Zachary Kostelnik & wife Amy, Megan Proctor & husband Kaycee; grand daughter-in-law Jennifer Loudon & husband Todd; great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Trent, Presley, Taylor, Christopher, Benjamin, Julie, Damon, Dylon, Addison, Kora, Timothy, Kathryn, Karley, Kallie, Macey, Ashlyn, Tanner, Finley, Cullen, Canon, Cason, Callyn, Dixie, Kaspyn, McLaine, Emersyn, Weston, Layne, Cole and Cooper.

Peggy was preceded in death by; her parents, husband Tom, twin infant sons, daughter Debi Franta, son David Kostelnik and grandsons Christopher Kostelnik and Timothy Kostelnik.

Funeral Mass Service: 11 am, Friday, February 14, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville with Visitation starting at 9:30 am and Rosary starting at 10:30 am. Pallbearers: Brian Kostelnik, Kevin Kostelnik, Steven Franta, Kyle Franta, Zachary Kostelnik and Scott Pustka. Honorary Pallbearers: Peggy's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Officiant: Rev. Michael Rother. Memorials: Hospice of South Texas, Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Donor's Choice. Entombment: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
